Max Gärtner es un prodigio en temas de precisión, pues todo su trabajo de basa en complejas líneas entrecruzadas.
Básicamente, se dedica a dibujar la cabeza de osos, búfalos, leopardos y todo tipo de animales mediante una red de trazos enmarañados, que además de dar un aspecto muchísimo más orgánico y lleno de movimiento, da un giro radical en cuanto a técnicas en el mundo de los retratos.
Su trabajo está inspirado en los padres del line work: Gustav Kimt y Egon Schiele, aunque el trabajo de este tipo ha decantado más bien por trazos limpios y precisos.
Según nos cuentan en Beautiful Decay, el trabajo de Gärtner se está exponiendo en estos momentos en la BC Gallery de Berlín, bajo el nombre de “No Lie in Fire”, y en ella vemos un tributo de Gärtner a los animales que de manera metafórica o subliminal han tenido importancia para él.
There are encounters in life, which are accompanied by an incredible force and which, once experienced, leave you convinced of their significance as messages from a higher universal power. It makes no difference whether these encounters occur within dreams or a waking state because the idea of a sole, true and singular reality is false and out-dated, and everything one feels, exists and as such may and should be considered a reality. This is an exhibition of portraits of some of the creatures I have encountered and who have influenced the course of my life on a fundamental level. I do not know how else to describe it, other than encounters with extremely old souls, which I would like to identity here, free from any religious connotations, as gods.
