El Radio City Music Hall de Nueva York dejó que el teatro inundara los corredores para celebrar a los mejores exponentes del teatro de Estados Unidos por la temporada 2016 – 2017.
Mean Girls
Con 12 nominaciones los musicales Mean Girls y Bob Esponja lideraron la competencia de la 72 edición de estos premios. Los anfitriones de la noche fueron Sara Bareilles y Josh Groban.
Harry Potter y el legado maldito, del éxito literario de J.K. Rowling, junto a Bob Esponja y Mean Girls compitieron codo a codo. Frozen, uno de los éxitos más grandes de Disney, compite por Mejor Musical y Let it Go por mejor música original.
Andrew Garfield y Nathan Lane iban como favoritos a mejor actor por Angels in America. Renée Fleming, debutante, fue nominada como actriz de reparto por Carousel.
John Leguizamo compite en la categoría de Mejor Obra de Teatro por Latin History for Morons, de la que también es autor. Otros latinos nominados fueron Chita Rivera, Andrew Lloyd Webber y Bruce Springsteen.
Lo imprescindible de Trump
Artistas y celebridades del mundo del teatro se reunieron a celebrar la instancia junto a sus pares. Todas las oportunidades frente a las cámaras son aprovechadas por quienes tienen algo que decir. En esta oportunidad Robert De Niro fue el encargado de darle el tinte político al evento.
El actor, dueño de una cadena hotelera, le prohibió la entrada a Donald Trump, pero esta vez la noticia es diferente. En su discurso le envió un mensaje claro y directo al actual presidente.
El censurado mensaje fue confirmado por la audiencia, como Dave Quinn, quien estaba presente y escuchó las palabras de De Niro.
